West Ham: Hammers eyeing Schouten

West Ham United are interested in signing Bologna midfielder Jerdy Schouten, according to a report from the Daily Mail.

The lowdown: Schouten profiled

Having made the grade in Holland, the 25-year-old left his homeland in 2019 to head to Italy, where he has since made 71 outings for Serie A side Bologna.

In that time, Schouten – predominantly a defensive midfielder – has garnered attention from Italian giants AS Roma, AC Milan and Napoli following an impressive rise to prominence.

[web_stories_embed url=”https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/web-stories/west-ham-newest-updates/” title=”West Ham newest updates!” poster=”” width=”360″ height=”600″ align=”none”]

Now a source closer to home has suggested that the Hammers could be weighing a move for the Dutchman…

The latest: Hammers manoeuvre into pole position

As per the Daily Mail, West Ham are ‘keeping close tabs’ on the Bologna ace and have been ‘manoeuvring themselves into a position’ to win the race ahead of the likes of Jose Mourinho’s Roma.

It’s claimed that the Irons are ‘monitoring’ Schouten as Mark Noble edges towards retirement and head of recruitment Rob Newman and boss David Moyes consider replacements.

The report also states that officials from Rush Green have ‘extensively’ watched the uncapped star who was tipped as the ‘ideal player’ for the national side by Dutch legend Ruud Gullit.

The verdict: Shrewd move

Previously available for a reported €15million (£12.7million) amidst interest from Inter Milan, Schouten certainly presents an affordable option to succeed Noble at the London Stadium following the failed loan spell of Alex Kral.

Despite suffering an injury-hit 2021/22 campaign, the Dutchman, who has been likened to Barcelona ace and Manchester United target Frenkie de Jong, has still managed to earn a 6.98 Sofascore rating this term and recently returned to top form with a standout display against Venezia, scoring once, making three key passes, completing four interceptions and tackles.

With Noble set to retire and Declan Rice’s long term future remaining on the agenda, bringing Schouten to east London would be a smart move from the West Ham hierarchy.

Sciver-Brunt shows how England can tackle India's spinners

“The way to combat [spin] would be to get really far forward or really far back and then using the sweep”

S Sudarshanan15-Dec-2023When you walk out of the DY Patil University campus, which houses the cricket stadium, in the evening onto the main road, there are two serpentine queues of auto rickshaws. The drivers throw two words for you to make a choice: “Nerul [or] Juinagar! Nerul [or] Juinagar!” Those are the nearest railway stations from the university. Not quite in the same tone but “footwork” and “intent” were the oft-repeated words in Nat Sciver-Brunt’s press conference on Friday.England were dismissed for 136 in reply to India’s 428 in the women’s Test match as offspinner Deepti Sharma picked up a five-for. They now trail by 478 after India finished the day at 186 for 6, not enforcing the follow-on.England knew what to expect in Indian conditions. But the practice pitches on the two days leading up to the Test were not turners. In fact, both captains felt the pitches were skiddy with Heather Knight in particular finding “spin easier to face [but] things will change”. On the first day, India amassed 410 for 7 at a run rate of 4.36.Related

Deepti's 5 for 7 gives India complete control on 19-wicket day

England run into Deep(ti) trouble

But England were tied down by India, who opted for a pace-spin combination to start with. And in the ten overs since Deepti’s introduction in the 26th, England lost 7 for 28.Sciver-Brunt, who made 59 off 70 balls, put England’s collapse down to the in-between lengths Deepti bowled. “Making the batters not sure whether to come forward or back,” she said when asked about why Deepti was so hard to deal with. “When you play spin well, [it is about] making good decisions going forward or back and not getting caught in the crease. She bowled lengths that were difficult to read, and she also attacked the stumps.”England’s batting line-up collapsed against Deepti Sharma and Sneh Rana•BCCIDanni Wyatt did not press fully forward and got an inside edge onto her pad that lobbed to short leg. Sophie Ecclestone went back to a delivery she should have been forward to – a fullish-length ball spinning in a bit. Lauren Bell played for turn and ended up being bowled on the outside edge.”There was inconsistent spin, and you were not sure what to set up for as a batter,” Sciver-Brunt said. “Covering both sides of the bat was the main challenge. It is obviously a Test-match wicket that was going to deteriorate at some point. Some good bowling and obviously not brilliant footwork. The bowlers are creating indecision in the way we go about things. The inconsistency of the pitch as well [played its part].”England’s frailties against spin came to the fore in their 2-1 T20I series defeat at home against Sri Lanka in September. They lost 18 out of 24 wickets to spin in those three matches, which prompted head coach Jon Lewis to bring a select group of batters to Mumbai for a spin-training camp. It was keeping in mind not just the India tour but the bigger picture – the T20 World Cup next year in Bangladesh and the ODI World Cup in 2025 in India. It would be unfair to expect positive results immediately but Sciver-Brunt offered a template for the rest of hear team-mates to follow. She was constantly on the attack, which is not to suggest she didn’t trust her defence. Against spinners, she scored 27 off 26 balls and hit six off her ten fours but faced 17 dots, too. Of those 27 runs, she scored 18 on the leg side and laid a blueprint that she hoped the other batters could follow in the second innings.”I would speak in the change room a little bit about the surface,” she said, “and about the intent to score and the areas. The bounce from the seamers is not very high and so looking to score down the ground as much as we can will be important. The pitch deteriorated a little bit and some not-so-good footwork in the end.”When you come to India to play, you are expecting a slightly slower surface that takes turn, and face experienced spinners. The way to combat that would be to get really far forward or really far back and then using my sweep the best I can. That’s the plan.”We know when India get on a roll with the wickets, they can create a noise around that. Just try to ride that pressure and wave as a batter is the method that I will be using. Ideally, you don’t want to lose wickets in clusters.”For England’s batting train to get back on track, there is no choice but to follow the Sciver-Brunt advice of showing more intent and being assured in their footwork.

Tahlia McGrath: 'I can't get my head around liquid as a meal. Soup is not a meal'

The Australia allrounder spoke about her love of chocolate and chicken schnitty and being an unofficial ambassador for Vegemite earlier this year during the WPL

S Sudarshanan25-Jun-2023If you could just eat one thing for the rest of your life, what would it be?
It would be chocolate, but that’s not really a meal! ()What’s your go-to meal?
Just a really nice pasta dish. I am not too picky on what kind of pasta. That can be pretty universal in any country you go to.What’s the least healthy thing we’d find in your fridge right now?
Chocolate. Everywhere I go, I have got a stash of chocolate. What’s one food you had to give up to get fit for cricket? What has been the hardest food to give up?
There’s been a few chats with the dietician on what I have to give up. Just snacking, really. I get bored, go to the pantry and get some food. So just being strict and not snacking has been the hardest.Which cricketer you know is the best cook?
Maitlan Brown. I have roomed with her in a few under-age tournaments and camps. She is a very good cook. So, whenever I roomed with her, I was pretty happy because she used to do the cooking. She’s got a veggie garden, she loves to post about cooking all the time, wood-fire-oven pizzas. She’s a good one. What is your favourite thing to cook, and what is the one thing you make best?
I am a very basic cook. Just meat and vegetables. Homemade pizzas go down pretty well. I enjoy doing all the prep work and then having somebody else doing the cooking. I’ll do the cutting up and washing and all that. One food you’ve discovered on cricket tours and grown to love.
Probably the paneer curries that I have had in India. Got introduced to them the first time in India and love them. One food you miss when you’re on tour.
I miss my chicken schnitzels back home.

Which cricketing venue serves the best food?
I am going to be pretty biased and say Adelaide Oval. What’s your go-to post-workout snack?
Chocolate milk. Protein! What is your comfort food? What does a cheat-day meal look like?
It changes a fair bit. I just love food. When people go to a restaurant and have the same thing over and ove… I like to change it up. So a cheat day could be a burger, could be a pizza. Are you a coffee fiend? And what is your go-to coffee style?
I love my coffee. I only started when I started playing cricket. It’s a big cricket culture, especially in the Australian team. My go to is a latte and I have recently found out I am a bit of a coffee snob and that I have got pretty high standards around my coffee!Have you tried in India?
I have tried a chai when I was there last December and absolutely loved it. So I might have to get some more of that. What’s one snack that always travels with you in your kit bag?
I always have a little jar of Vegemite with me. I take that down to breakfast whatever country I am in and try and make some of the locals try it. They’ll hate it but I love my Vegemite. What’s the one thing you’d recommend people visiting Adelaide try?
A custard tart, specifically from the brand Balfours, is the best thing ever. If you are in Adelaide, give it a go.What does a meal look like on match days?
It depends on the match timings. When we are playing night games [in the WPL], I have a really big meal at about 3 o’clock. I have been having really big spaghetti Bolognese on game-day so that I get to 7:30 and I am not starving. That fills me up.One food you despise and would absolutely not eat.
This one’s caused controversy in teams that I play in, but I cannot stand soup. I can’t get my head around liquid as a meal and my team-mates always pain me out about it, but I just can’t do it. Soup is not a meal.

Bangladesh, West Indies prepare to do battle with puzzles to solve

Man Utd must sell £120k-p/w flop who was "one of the best in the world"

It’s become a running joke that players who arrive at Manchester United with a notable reputation tend to see their stock plummet, with Old Trafford having been a graveyard for the best and brightest over the last decade or so.

From Angel Di Maria to Alexis Sanchez, the signings of perceived ‘world-class’ talent have spectacularly backfired, with the pursuit of glamour names and marketing opportunities rarely equating to on-field glory.

Thankfully, it does appear that there has been a change in tack under the new INEOS regime, with Jason Wilcox and co having gone for young and hungry figures like Senne Lammens and Benjamin Sesko, alongside Premier League-proven talents in Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha.

With potential future captain Matthijs de Ligt now starting to shine at the heart of the defence, while veteran warrior Casemiro is enjoying a midfield renaissance, a strong spine is finally beginning to emerge under Ruben Amorim.

As defeats to the likes of Grimsby and Brentford have showcased this season, however, this new-look United side are far from the finished article, with it likely to take a succession of transfer windows for Amorim to be able to build a title-challenging squad again.

Investment in new recruits is certainly needed, although there is also a sense that there still remains plenty of ‘deadwood’ to be shifted too.

The players Man Utd need to sell in 2026

Whether it is in January or next summer, United face another pivotal year with regard to squad-building, with ruthless decisions needing to yet again be made in order to take this club where it needs to go.

In the most recent window, for instance, Amorim oversaw departures for the likes of Antony, Alejandro Garnacho and Marcus Rashford, with the Portuguese having taken a particularly strong stance on those latter two names.

When next summer rolls around, it would be no surprise to see further peripheral figures also sent packing, with both Joshua Zirkzee and Manuel Ugarte surely at risk, amid reports that Omar Berrada wishes to implement a two-year rule for new signings.

In essence, those brought in have a maximum of two years to make their mark or face the axe, with Zirkzee – who has played just 90 minutes this season – certainly out in the cold right now, while Ugarte was reportedly the subject of a dressing down from his former Sporting CP boss at the end of last term.

Question marks also remain over the futures of the aforementioned Casemiro and Harry Maguire, amid their expiring contracts, with the Brazilian – for all his importance – regularly unable to last the 90 minutes, having been subbed off on seven occasions in the top-flight this time around.

Long-serving defender Diogo Dalot also appears another player at risk, amid the change to a 3-4-2-1 system, with the orthodox right-back having come under fire this season for his struggles on either flank.

What is clear is that the likes of Amorim and Wilcox aren’t afraid to make the big decisions, a fact that was also evident with the handling of another former world-beater over the summer.

The Man Utd flop who finally needs to be sold

Signed for just £18m, Lammens looks like one of the bargains of the season in Premier League terms, with the Belgian ‘keeper still yet to taste defeat in his new surroundings, following a near faultless five games in the United goal to date.

The 23-year-old Belgian will, as is the fact of life for a goalkeeper, make a mistake at some stage, although his strong early impression has already won over the Old Trafford faithful, with supporters and pundits alike willing him to be the second coming of Peter Schmeichel.

Getting people onside early on is particularly key in a position that Gary Neville regularly describes as the “most difficult position in English football”, with Lammens’ predecessor Andre Onana having failed to do just that upon his arrival in 2023.

Formerly part of Erik ten Hag’s famed Ajax side that reached the Champions League last four in 2019, Onana was reunited with the Dutchman four years later, joining from Inter Milan on a £47.2m deal.

The Cameroon international – who was actually available on a free transfer in 2022 – departed the San Siro having starred amid their surge to the Champions League final in his solitary campaign in Italy, producing an eye-catching display even amid defeat to Manchester City in the showpiece.

Speaking ahead of that eventual 1-0 win for the Etihad side, Pep Guardiola even hailed Onana as “one of the best in the world right now”, with it looking as if United had acquired a perfect replacement for the departed David De Gea.

Frustratingly for all concerned, the erratic ‘keeper looked a poor fit from the off, memorably lobbed from the halfway line on his Old Trafford debut against Lens in July 2023.

The sight of the £120k-per-week stopper tangled in his own goal set the tone for what was to follow, having also escaped punishment for a late punch against Wolverhampton Wanderers on his Premier League bow, before producing a string of blunders during United’s dismal European run.

In that 2023/24 Group stage alone, he made two errors leading to a goal, having followed that up with a further five errors across the 2024/25 season in the Premier League and Europa League, as per Sofascore.

Perhaps the final straw came away at Lyon last term, with Onana engaging in pre-match verbals with Nemanja Matic, who branded him one of the “worst keepers in Manchester United’s history”.

Desperate to prove him wrong, United’s number 24 went on to play his part in both of Lyon’s goals, the second coming at the death just minutes after he had appeared to rile the home crowd by taking an age over a goal-kick.

The woes of Altay Bayindir did ensure he was subsequently reinstated, but the die was cast, with Amorim shipping out his previous first-choice stopper to Turkish side Trabzonspor late in the window.

With no buy option included as part of that deal, the 29-year-old – who has actually conceded just seven goals in eight Super Lig games in Turkey – will have to return to Manchester next summer, with INEOS swiftly needing to find a buyer for their exiled flop.

The problem is, the Red Devils will likely have to take a sizeable hit on their initial investment, with CIES Football Observatory deeming him to be worth a maximum of just €15m (£13m), even less than what United paid for Lammens.

Getting something for him is better than nothing, however, with the Red Devils needing to try and swiftly move on from this costly transfer mistake.

Cardinals Catcher Played Second Base for First Time Since He Was 11 for Clever Reason

St. Louis Cardinals catcher Pedro Pagés is used to being behind the plate. Of his 77 MLB appearances heading into Friday night's game against the Philadelphia Phillies, all but one have been at catcher. The sole outlier was an appearance last year at first base.

Pagés was unexpectedly moved from catcher to second base Friday due to an injury to Cardinals shortstop Masyn Winn. Once Winn was removed, St. Louis moved second baseman Thomas Saggese over to short and Pagés to second base to avoid losing their designated hitter for the rest of the game.

Brendan Donovan, who has started nine of the Cardinals' 13 games so far this season at second base, was the DH on Friday. If St. Louis simply moved Donovan from DH to the field, they would not have been able to use a DH to bat in place of their pitcher for the rest of the game.

That's where Pagés comes in. According to MLB.com's Cardinals reporter John Denton, Pagés estimated that Friday was the first time he played second base since he was 11 years old.

“Never did I think I would play second base in the big leagues,” Pagés, who even had to borrow Donovan's glove for the night, said.

Pagés fielded two ground balls hit his way for outs as the Cardinals held onto a 2-0 win over the Phillies. He went 1-for-3 at the plate and looked pretty comfortable as an infielder, considering the circumstances.

And the Cardinals gave him some credit for it on social media:

The traditional catcher may have turned into more of a utility player thanks to the clever substitution.

Real Madrid to host the Champions League final?! UEFA eye revamped Bernabeu as venue for showpiece event after being blown away by transformation

A renovated Santiago Bernabeu has played host to the first-ever NFL match played at the stadium, helping to elevate its status to a multi-purpose stadium and, Impressed with the revamped stadium, UEFA are reportedly planning to host a Champions League final at the Bernabeu in the near future.

First NFL game in Spain

A revamped Santiago Bernabeu hosted an NFL game between the Miami Dolphins and the Washington Commanders on Sunday. The game, which the Dolphins won 16-13, saw a huge turnout from locals as well as from fans abroad. As per a report from Defensa Central, the governing body of European football, UEFA, were surprised by the stadium's transformation. Despite having a not-so-healthy relationship with the club in recent times, UEFA did not shy away from admiring Real Madrid's innovative new-look stadium. They have also indicated a potential Champions League final taking place at the iconic stadium; however, nothing has been made official yet.

AdvertisementGetty Images SportPerez's plan is successful

Back in 2023, Florentino Perez had pointed out how the renovation would pan out, explaining: "The investment in technology has been increased in all the areas of the Bernabéu Tour. The Museum will be much bigger and the spaces have been modified to make them more attractive. The traditional Tour has been extended with 2 new routes. The turf maintenance lighting has also been changed from fixed to variable spectrum, which allows the full range of natural light colours to be used, and this is the first time it has been used anywhere in the world with spectacular results. The increase in investment has also been allocated to improving the gastronomic services of the bars, which will represent a qualitative leap in the offer to members and fans. All this involves an enormous effort in the development of infrastructures, which, in addition to providing a better gastronomic experience, will serve to optimise the generation of income through this activity. In order to address all these additional investments and expenses, we have decided to finance ourselves on a long-term basis to avoid having to impact the activity and the club's outstanding balance sheet in the short term. The budget for these new investments is €370 million. Thanks to the financial solvency that Real Madrid enjoys, this will allow us to obtain financing under very favourable conditions, as we have obtained an A-rating, equivalent to that of the Kingdom of Spain."

Barriers which can prevent a Champions League final at the stadium

There is only one barrier that might prevent the stadium from hosting a Champions League final, and that is the club's will. In order to get hosting rights, the club will need to submit a bid, and as per the report, Los Blancos are in no mood to do so. Moreover, they are looking at this project to be one that generates a huge revenue. As per Defensa Central, this NFL game generated more than €80 million once ticket sales apart from other commercial activities and hospitality in the city.

Getty Images SportWhen do Real Madrid again play at the Bernabeu?

Real Madrid have taken a major step in the reformation of the stadium, and that is to remove the name of Santiago from it. From now on, the iconic venue will be known as only Bernabeu and necessary changes will also be made to the logo, as per Diario AS. The stadium was named after legendary Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid player Santiago Bernabeu de Yeste in 1955. Notably, Bernabeu also performed the duties of a club president for Los Blancos. With the change in name, the legacy is not expected to diminish. But Madrid are currently not playing any home fixtures, with a return scheduled for December 7, when they take on Celta Vigo in the Spanish top flight.

Kuldeep takes four as India skittle UAE for 57

The left-arm wristspinner was back with a bang as UAE lost 8 for 10

ESPNcricinfo staff10-Sep-20252:03

What are India’s expectations from Gill?

India began their Asia Cup title defence by making short work of UAE’s batting, bowling the hosts out for 57 in just 13.1 overs. UAE came into this match on the back of encouraging displays against Pakistan and Afghanistan in the tri-series they recently hosted, but all that promise came to nothing against the relentless quality of India’s bowling.Related

Gill and Abhishek begin new chapter in old bromance

UAE began well enough, all things considered, scoring 41 for 2 in their powerplay with openers Alishan Sharafu and Muhammad Waseem hitting six fours and a six between them. They fell apart thereafter, losing their last eight wickets for the addition of just ten runs.Jasprit Bumrah – India’s only specialist quick – and Varun Chakravarthy took the first two wickets, but the bulk of the damage thereafter came courtesy two bowlers who had looked less than certain to play in the lead-up to this match. Kuldeep Yadav picked up 4 for 7, including three wickets in his second over, and Shivam Dube ran through the lower order to bag 3 for 4, his best T20I figures. To their credit, UAE did not let the loss of two powerplay wickets curb their intent, but on this day they kept losing wickets to low-percentage shots. Rahul Chopra took on the large outfield at the Dubai International Stadium and the protected long-on boundary and holed out off Kuldeep. Waseem followed him to the dressing room three balls later, missing a sweep against a bowler whose stock ball, straightening into the right-hander from left-arm over, is stump-to-stump by design. Kuldeep finished the over with a trademark wrong’un to bowl the left-handed Harshit Kaushik through the gate, and UAE were already five down.India used six bowlers, and five of them ended up on the wickets column, with Bumrah – who bowled three overs in the powerplay, a rarity for him – Varun and Axar Patel taking one each. Dube, playing ahead of a second frontline quick to give India batting depth until No. 8, couldn’t help but take wickets with his medium-pace, even when India gave them back. No. 10 Junaid Siddique was given out stumped when Sanju Samson caught him wandering out of his crease, a la Jonny Bairstow, but India withdrew their appeal. Next ball, Junaid swung at a slower ball and skewed it to India captain Suryakumar Yadav, the man who had made that call.

Man Utd join race to sign "underrated" Arsenal target in bargain Baleba alternative

Hoping to get one over on their rivals, Manchester United have now reportedly joined Arsenal in the race to sign Quinten Timber, whose contract is set to expire next summer.

Ruben Amorim’s midfield has been a topic of discussion ever since his arrival. The Portuguese manager revived Casemiro from a player destined to leave to an invaluable part of his side, but that has also come at a cost for Kobbie Mainoo. In an attempt to find balance, the academy graduate has struggled to get into the side.

As things stand, it looks like Casemiro and captain Bruno Fernandes will occupy the two deeper midfield roles in Amorim’s system when everyone is available for United. But there does lie one problem.

Casemiro is 33 years old and can’t go on forever, no matter how much his form has been revived. And with Manuel Ugarte still unable to find his feet at Old Trafford, Man United could do with a long-term solution.

Now worth more than Anderson: Man Utd star is the "nearest thing" to Zidane

Manchester United have hit the jackpot on a star who’s worth more than Elliot Anderson.

ByEthan Lamb Nov 14, 2025

Rumours centred around Carlos Baleba in the summer as the Red Devils attempted to do exactly that, before the midfielder stayed put at Brighton & Hove Albion, and it’s clearly something that INEOS are looking to address.

It seems as though the Brighton man remains a target, but he’s now not the only one on United’s shortlist. Atlético Madrid’s Conor Gallagher, another name on the shortlist, is now reportedly open to an Old Trafford switch, whilst INEOS could yet land an alternative bargain deal to end their problems once and for all.

Man Utd join Quinten Timber race

According to Caught Offside, Man United have now joined the race to sign Timber and could yet jump ahead of Arsenal in pursuit of his signature.

The Gunners already have Quinten’s twin brother, Jurrien, in their ranks but may be forced to watch on as the two siblings do battle rather than unite in the Premier League next year.

There’s little chance that those at Old Trafford will be priced out of a move for the 25-year-old, too, as was the case with Baleba in the summer. The Dutch midfielder is set to become a free agent at the end of his current Feyenoord deal in June — handing Arsenal and Man United the chance to land a bargain deal.

Dubbed “underrated” by U23 scout Antonio Mango last year, Timber is also attracting interest from Borussia Dortmund, who are leading the race for his signature. Both Man United and Arsenal must first fend off competition from the Bundesliga giants before doing battle themselves next summer.

Man Utd hold discussions to sign "unique" teen sensation ahead of Real Madrid

Man Utd lead race to sign "fearless" teenager who's been compared to Kroos

Manchester United are now reportedly leading Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona in the race to sign Kennet Eichhorn, who’s been compared to the legendary Toni Kroos.

The Red Devils are gearing up for another frantic year of recruitment, with Ruben Amorim’s midfield seemingly taking the focus after INEOS already improved the manager’s frontline last summer.

On that front, names such as Elliot Anderson have already threatened to steal the headlines and there’s no doubt that he’d be an excellent signing. The Nottingham Forest star has recently taken Adam Wharton’s place in Thomas Tuchel’s best England side and is proving to be one of few standouts in a season to forget at the City Ground.

Champions League qualification is of course the aim at Old Trafford this season, but the fact that United proved they can lure top talents to the club without it should be seen as a huge boost in pursuit of Anderson.

He’s not the only one on their reported shortlist, however. Brighton & Hove Albion’s Carlos Baleba is still on United’s radar after they failed to secure his signature in the summer.

The impressive defensive midfielder would solve a problem that Amorim has had since he’s arrived, with Manuel Ugarte failing to live up to expectations and Casemiro edging past his consistent best.

It is also worth noting that, as ever, those at Old Trafford also have an eye on future talent. The task for INEOS is not just to turn United around as soon as possible, but to then avoid another major collapse. And the pursuit of the next Kroos would go a long way towards doing just that.

Man Utd leading race to sign Kennet Eichhorn

As reports relayed by Caught Offside, Man United are now in pole position to sign Eichhorn from Hertha Berlin ahead of PSG and Barcelona after sending scouts. The 16-year-old midfielder is one of the hottest prospects around and has even been dubbed the next Kroos thanks to his ability to dictate play from a deeper role.

The impressive teenager is yet to even turn 18, but is already playing an important role at Hertha, having started six of their 11 2.Bundesliga games so far this season. This early experience in itself has only highlighted the talent that the German club have on their hands.

It’s little surprise that Eichhorn has been the talk of Europe and scout Jacek Kulig is one of many to have praised the midfielder – describing him as “technically sharp”, “intelligent on the ball” and “fearless”.
