Leeds United Could Appoint 46 y/o To Replace Sam Allardyce

Leeds United hiring ex-Norwich City boss Daniel Farke as their new manager at Elland Road is a 'possibility for sure', according to journalist Ben Jacobs.

What's the latest news involving Leeds United and Daniel Farke?

According to The Guardian, Farke, Carlos Corberan and Scott Parker are on Leeds United's managerial shortlist as they look to find the man to lead them into the Sky Bet Championship next term.

Brendan Rodgers had previously been the first choice of 49ers Enterprises, who have recently completed a takeover of the Yorkshire outfit; however, he looks to have passed on the chance to assume the reins at Elland Road in favour of a return to former club Celtic.

Farke was also under consideration for the Celtic job alongside Manchester City coach Enzo Maresca and Bodo/Glimt boss Kjetil Knutsen to replace Ange Postecoglou at Parkhead, as per The Daily Mail.

As per Leeds Live, former Liverpool icon Steven Gerrard was among the contenders to replace Jesse Marsch at Leeds United; nevertheless, he is poised to become the new manager of Saudi Pro League side Al-Ettifaq, as per Romain Molina.

Speaking to Football FanCast, journalist Jacobs has indicated that Farke joining Leeds United as their new boss is definitely a 'possibility' at Elland Road.

Jacobs told FFC: "It's a possibility for sure. I mean, you have to remember, at Leeds, the new ownership group 49ers Enterprises have only just completed their acquisition. It was always likely to be a case that new ownership would come in and then the managerial situation would be resolved and that is exactly what has happened."

Would Daniel Farke succeed as Leeds United boss?

Farke has the credentials to succeed in the Sky Bet Championship due to having previously enjoyed a fruitful time of things managing in the English second tier with Norwich City.

Looking over his spell in charge of the Canaries, the 46-year-old delivered two Sky Bet Championship titles in 2018/19 and 2020/21, as per Transfermarkt.

Most recently of Borussia Monchengladbach, Farke was sacked at the end of 2022/23 following a disappointing tenth-placed finish in the Bundesliga, which could potentially pave the way for a return to English football.

Gladbach director Roland Virkus explained the decision by stating: "After intensive talks, we came to the decision with Daniel Farke to go our separate ways. We would like to thank Daniel and his team for all their work."

Now, Farke will hope to land the Leeds United managerial role, where whoever succeeds will work with interim football advisor Nick Hammond to identify new recruits following his appointment on a short-term basis this week at Elland Road.

Lodha Committee approves direct payment for BCCI tournaments

The Lodha Committee has permitted the BCCI to pay players and officials in domestic tournaments directly and under existing terms, board secretary Ajay Shirke said

ESPNcricinfo staff15-Nov-2016The Lodha Committee has told the BCCI that payments to players and officials for all board-organised tournaments, like the Ranji Trophy, can be made directly under existing terms, the board secretary Ajay Shirke said. The Committee’s permission came after the BCCI sought direction on the release of funds for the Rajasthan Ranji Trophy team and the state’s various age-group teams.According to the , Shirke had written to the Committee last week stating that the association was cash-strapped and would not be able to play their next round of matches in the respective tournaments without funds. The Rajasthan team is currently playing a Ranji Trophy match against Karnataka in Vizianagram.”The Hon’ble Justice Lodha Committee has communicated today to the CEO of the BCCI (Rahul Johri) that payments to players and officials can be made directly to them as per the agreed existing terms. This is for all BCCI-organised tournaments,” Shirke told the . “We didn’t have problems for all state associations. They pay themselves (to their players). Because the Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA) is suspended, the problem was only for them.”The BCCI sought clarification from the Lodha Committee following an order from the Supreme Court of India on October 21, in which the board was directed not to distribute funds to its state associations until they submit affidavits stating compliance with the recommendations of the court and the Lodha Committee within two weeks. The Rajasthan Cricket Association’s suspended status was also a factor. The BCCI had suspended the RCA in May 2014 after the latter elected Lalit Modi, an expelled administrator, as its president. The board then omitted the RCA from the 2014-15 domestic programme.Rajasthan eventually got to play – though not under the RCA banner – after the Rajasthan High Court heard a writ petition signed by 75 players, and directed the Rajasthan Sports Council, the RCA and the BCCI to work in tandem and appoint selection committees to select teams for the board’s senior, junior and women’s tournaments. Before the 2015-16 season the board appointed an ad-hoc committee to run cricket in Rajasthan.Rajasthan have two more Group B matches to play before the end of the Ranji Trophy’s league stage. They are scheduled to play Delhi in Wayanad from November 21 and Vidarbha in Mumbai from December 7.

Cricket charity Chance to Shine receives ECB funding boost

The England & Wales Cricket Board has announced that it will be doubling its investment in Chance to Shine

Andrew Miller03-Nov-2016The England & Wales Cricket Board has announced that it will be doubling its investment in Chance to Shine, the cricket charity that was founded in 2005 to address the decline of the sport in state schools.Following a decade of pioneering work in the grassroots game, during which time more than 3 million schoolchildren have been introduced to cricket, the ECB yesterday announced that, from October 2017, at least £2.5m will be donated annually to Chance to Shine, with a further £500,000 to be made available for matched funding.According to Luke Swanson, Chance to Shine’s chief executive, the extra investment will targeted on primary schools, with the aim of reaching an additional 200,000 children a year. This places the charity right at the heart of the ECB’s game-wide strategy, as spelt out through their framework, Cricket Unleashed, to inspire more people, especially families, to get involved with cricket.”When we work in primary schools, we have the opportunity to introduce the game to every child irrespective of background, gender or parental involvement,” said Swanson. “In a primary school, cricket has the chance to reach the whole community, and give kids of all backgrounds the chance to play together.”Matt Dwyer, the ECB’s director of participation and growth, said that the timing of the announcement was designed to maximise the opportunity that the sport has in the coming years to reconnect the sport with its public. With the Champions Trophy and Women’s World Cup coming up on home soil next year, followed by the men’s World Cup and the Ashes in 2019, the drive to attract new players and supporters begins now.”It is not just about seeing cricket survive, it’s about seeing cricket thrive for generations,” he said. “As a game we are very much focused on inspiring that next generation, and taking cricket to classrooms and playgrounds across the country.”We believe cricket is uniquely placed to enrich the lives of young people, whether that be through the development of nine of the 10 fundamental movements skills, the fact that we are the only sport that incorporates our values into the official rules of the game, or the fact that cricket can deliver so many in-class curriculum outcomes.Cricket has the ability to inspire kids in our communities in a way like no other and we will do that together with Chance to Shine.”The funding boost was announced by Colin Graves, the ECB chairman, during Chance to Shine’s annual awards dinner at Lord’s on Wednesday evening, following a coaching session at St Mary and St Peter’s Primary School in south-west London, attended by the England batsman, Sam Billings.”Every career starts at the bottom level so it’s fundamental that these kids get the chance to play many sports, especially cricket,” said Billings. “In many schools around the country its football dominated, cricket is not on the curriculum.”Certainly in Bangladesh with England we had this conversation. I think it’s about a 50/50 split in terms of who went to state and independent schools, and club cricket plays a massive role too in getting that relationship right. Club cricket was a great benefit to me growing up but again, it starts with the schools.”

ويمتلك ماركينيوس قائد باريس سان جيرمان عقدًا مع الفريق الفرنسي ممتد حتى 30 يونيو 2028، وبالتالي، يجب على بايرن ميونخ التفاوض أولًا مع النادي.

Aston Villa Could Sign Own Rice In £35m "Machine"

Aston Villa are still reflecting on a hugely impressive campaign in which Unai Emery guided them from the threat of relegation and into Europe in his first five months at the helm.

The Villans cannot afford to stand still as they embark on a season of Premier League and Europa Conference League football, though, with strength in depth key if they are to compete on multiple fronts.

One attainable target Villa have been linked with is Leeds United midfielder Tyler Adams, with Football Insider reporting that Emery's side are in the mix to sign the American this summer, with a fee of around £35m having been mooted.

Leeds paid a reported £20m to land the United States midfielder from RB Leipzig last year, so a slightly higher offer from Villa – should it indeed arrive – may well be enough to prise him away from Elland Road on the back of the Whites' recent relegation to the Championship.

However, Villa are not alone in showing an interest in Adams after his impressive maiden campaign in English football, with Manchester United also said to retain an interest.

What can Tyler Adams provide Aston Villa?

Leeds may have suffered a disappointing campaign last time out, but Adams is one of those who came out of the season with some credit.

Adams was given a seasonal rating of 6.73 by WhoScored, which was the most of any Leeds player – Jack Harrison being the next highest with 6.72.

The 24-year-old also caught the eye at the World Cup midway through the season, earning praise from writer Wes Rucker for being a "machine" as the United States made it to the knockout rounds.

declan-rice-west-ham-arsenal-transfer-gossip-edu-arteta-rodri-guardiola

Indeed, Adams' numbers in the Premier League last season were similar to those of Declan Rice, who is wanted by a number of elite clubs this summer, Bayern Munich and Arsenal among them.

Adams completed 82.5 passes per 90 minutes in the Premier League last season, as per FBref, whereas Rice completed 86.5. Adams averaged 67.8 touches per 90 minutes, meanwhile – an almost identical figure to Rice with 68.

There was also very little between the pair in terms of aerial duels won (1.04 for Adams and 1.02 for Rice) and carries (34.1 compared to 39.9 respectively).

With Rice potentially attracting a fee in excess of £90m, Adams should be considered a steal at that aforementioned figure in the region of £35m – though that is not to say Leeds will not play hardball.

Emery will no doubt be excited by the prospect of having Adams in his engine room next season, which would only get even more out of other talented players in his squad, not least the more advanced Jacob Ramsey.

Academy product Ramsey scored six goals and assisted seven more in 35 Premier League appearances last season – figures that could grow even higher with Adams in the side to provide greater defensive cover.

In what is an exciting summer for Villa supporters, Adams may just be the marquee signing ahead of what may well be a season to remember.

Aston Villa Eyeing Move For £235k-A-Week Superstar

Aston Villa are still showing an interest in signing Atletico Madrid superstar Joao Felix during the summer transfer window, according to a fresh update.

What is Joao Felix's contract and salary?

The £235,000-a-week Portuguese arguably hasn't yet hit the heights many predicted of him a few years ago, having won the prestigious European Golden Boy award back in 2019.

Felix made the move to Chelsea on loan back in January, having struggled to consistently make an impact at Atletico, but his time at Stamford Bridge was largely underwhelming. Granted, he was playing for an out-of-sorts team were low on both quality and confidence, but a tally of four goals in 16 Premier League appearances was still a forgettable return.

It doesn't look as though the Blues will take up the offer of signing the 23-year-old permanently this summer, so instead, he will return to Atletico but looks likely to depart again and perhaps permanently this time, despite his contract not expiring until 2027.

Villa have been linked with a move for Felix recently, and it looks as though their interest isn't showing any sign of waning.

Joao Felix headers the ball for Chelsea as they face Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League.

Will Villa sign Felix?

According to Onda Cero [via Sport Witness], both the Villans and Tottenham "could be interested" in snapping up the Portugal international this summer, with Atletico set to deem him surplus to requirements.

There is a possible issue surrounding a move for Felix, however, with the report stating that the youngster "only wants teams qualified in the Champions League".

Felix is undoubtedly a huge talent, having been hailed as "special" by Alvaro Morata and "complete" by Diego Simeone in the past, so the thought of Villa signing him is a mouthwatering one.

He possesses genuine star talent and he could thrive by being the main man at Villa Park, raising the level of those around him and spearheading their charge in Europe next season. There are question marks surrounding him, given the manner in which he has struggled to reach expectations levels, but at 23, he is still so young and could be a superstar addition for years to come.

That being said, it does feel unlikely that Villa, or Spurs for that matter, will be able to entice him to the club, considering he seemingly only has eyes on playing Champions League football. The lure of playing under the much-revered Unai Emery could be the one thing given them a chance of signing him, though.

Sunderland handed Bailey Wright boost

Early Sunderland team news has emerged as they prepare to face Wycombe in the League One play-off final on Saturday…

What’s the latest?

Alex Neil has confirmed that Bailey Wright and Lynden Gooch should be fine for the showpiece occasion at Wembley after picking up knocks in the semi-final tie against Sheffield Wednesday.

Aside from that, the Black Cats have no other fresh concerns to worry about heading into the game this weekend and look set to have the same squad available to them.

The 40-year-old told the club’s official website, via Sunderland Echo: “I think that we’ve come through both of those legs relatively unscathed, which is good.”We’ve got a couple of bumps and bruises, Bailey Wright got a bit of a split round his eye and I think Goochy had one on his head as well. But there’s nothing too significant, so we’re hoping that we can get the lads through this week so that they’re fine and firing and ready to go.” Supporters will be buzzing

Sunderland supporters will be buzzing by this news for multiple reasons.

Firstly, there are no new injuries to contend with, which is a huge relief as it means that all of the players who contributed to the semi-final win will also be available this weekend. It is a gigantic clash at Wembley with promotion on the line, and Neil will need as many of his players fit as possible to give them the best chance of making it back to the Championship.

The Stadium of Light faithful will also be delighted to hear that Wright should be fine after sustaining a knock against the Owls. Having him in the team against Wycombe will be a big boost, as he leaves it all out on the pitch and will put his body on the line for the club.

After the second leg against Wednesday, Roker Report writer Philip West heaped praise on the 29-year-old, tweeting: “Bailey Wright, what a warrior. Bloodstained shirt, blood trickling down his face, but he was an absolute rock tonight. That’s what playing for this club is about. Heart of a lion.”

The Australian was magnificent at the back that night, winning six duel and making one clearance, block and interception (as per Sofascore). That kind of performance, perfectly summed up by West, is what Sunderland will need on Saturday to see off Wycombe.

This is why Black Cats supporters will surely be buzzing with this update from Neil and will now be hoping that Wright is named in the starting XI at Wembley.

AND in other news, Sunderland make move to land first summer signing, Neil will be buzzing…
